An "aha" moment!

I finally found out what my job is--"mothers are supposed to make their sons feel better." I am so glad I now know that. I am sure this will make my life much easier and supposedly it is easier than actually telling the truth.

Later, that same day...a list of what I want.

1. Dr. Pepper
2. To not get weird vibes from friends.
3. A really good recipe for something Italian with tuna in it. I am currently working on this one.
4. A copy of Tender Mercies and The Alamo--the one with Billy Bob Thornton as David Crockett and Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston...got 'em both!
5. Really Really Cold weather.
6. Stronger will power.
7. My puppy to be 100% house trained.
8. Spicy shrimp and garlic bread.
9. Lonnie Broadaxe on Hulu.
10. An explanation of why Serius plays Cars music.

I would like to thank you, the fans, God and my mom! Peas out!

It IS hot and dangerous out there!

Yesterday, I went on a field trip with James' freshman class. They ordered 600 sack lunches and we had 13 buses of students. I don't know the exact number of people that went but it was a lot! We went to the fair and heard a woman talk about how important farmers are, and then she proceeded to tell us that gum has something in it that comes from a pig. I am not going to lie--that did freak me out a bit but then I remembered that I like ham, bacon, sausage, pork chops etc so I unfreaked. Then we took a tour of McLennen Community College -MCC- and Baylor. Hot, humid, loud and lots and lots of mosquitoes! It would have been a perfectly lovely day if there had not been kids. But then again, doesn't that really describe most days. Just kidding, your kids are perfectly lovely and no, they really don't have a compilation of their parents worst traits. And of course, they are the smartest people I have ever met. I mean, after all, your kids know most of the 50 states, just like you said, they are great singers. And yes, I do agree that it was all political that they are on the second string of the chess club. And you are right, it is a crying shame that every year you have to conference with teachers because, even though you have had your children tested, the teachers don't seem to understand that the children are oral learners so expecting them to read to learn is truly a hardship. And don't even tell me the story about how, before kindergarten, they couldn't make the "b"sound, so they said "sass time" and "sye sye." Those stories are just too cute and I really can't handle hearing them again for the hundredth time. It really is too much. And yes, for the last time, it would be great if your kids could come over to play with my kids the next time you have errands to run; however, my dogs are really allergic to laundry detergent and I believe the type you use really makes them cough. And, although, it is very kind to offer to buy doggie medicine if you kids come over and it makes the dogs sick, I just can't ask you to do that. Oh, yes, the next time you take the kids to swim, we will definitely come along. Oh really, your children are Olympic quality swimmers and yes, they really could teach my children how to be better swimmers. Just let me know, and if we are free, we will be there. Tomorrow, oh sorry, we are all having root canals tomorrow. The next day, no busy too. How about if I call you when I get home and can look at my date book? Oh, your taking your kids to your husband's office--I agree, everyone does love the boss's kids. Yes, I have your cell number and I will give you a call. Sure, you call me later. Hopefully my cell phone won't die. I would HATE to miss your call! Okay, bye. --as I mumble to myself, ya, sure, I'll be taking that call.

Oh the humiliation...

So tomorrow, the boy's class--all of the 9th grade--is going on a field trip and I am going to chaperon. Oh, the horror, the humiliation, the, the, the...please don't go, please. I am not covered in cholera. Oh well. On other fronts, the oven is working wonderfully. I made a little pizza on some garlic naan with pesto and mozzarella for an appetizer. It was very very good. In fact, I only made one and got howled at for not having more. Oh these people.
Today, it rained here almost all day. I love rainy days but only if I can stay home and cuddle on the couch with husband, blanket and puppy. No chance of that today. Phil had to work, to warm for blanket and the puppy is not real into cuddling. But Koko is, so she cuddled when I had my afternoon coffee. She is way more loyal than anyone else I live with, except Phil, Rosie, Biskit, most of the furniture and the cars. Notice who I left out? Not really, the boy is great and likes me very much from a distance.
I am once again working, slowly, on my thesis. I actually have a good, I hope, topic and am almost finished with the prospectus. Then I just have to get it approved. And then, revise etc. Hopefully I will be writing in full swing by November. We shall see.
I hope that you all have a good evening. More later...

Dora, Backpacks, and Coop-ens!!

I don't know if anyone out there is still subscribing to this but am going to try and write again--not every day but often. I haven't written since before we moved to Waco and that was a very long time ago, so I will give up an update of what has happened in list form:
1. House, job and the Boy's school are all good.
2. Still writing on the thesis--I know, I am slow and kind of pathetic.
3. New puppy named Biskit.
4. The Boy is playing the bass guitar--very very well.
5. My life theme-song is "Basketcase" by Green Day. Appropo, no?
6. We are slowly teaching the Boy to drive.
7. I still hate hot weather.
8. My oven caught on fire on the first day of school as I was making cookies for the Boy.
9. The Boy is in high school.
10. I went to a motorcycle rally over the weekend and saw Dr.Hook and Bad Company.

I had so much fun with my friends at the bike rally. We say motorcycles, hell raisers (saw them/were them, whatever,) dare devils, drank some good beer, and watched a great concert( see above.) Sherry R.G. and I met up in Snyder and then met up with some old friends and just had a crazy time. I still love her so much and think that she is one of the most fun people I know. The best part of all, however, was that I got to hang out with one of the dearest friends I have ever had. We reconnected again after nearly, nearly 20 years and I am so glad to have that friendship back in my life.
Let me just say also, nothing makes a girl feel good about herself like a bike rally. First of all, I don't look to rough so that was better than some. Second, those bikers totally dug us. After all, we were way cute--2 1/2 lids worth someone once said. That means alot, I think.
I shall close here for today thanking all of you for your continued interest in my ranting! YOU ROCK!!!
